The meaning behind the paint
“1Therefore,
since we have been justified through faith, we
have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, 2through whom we have gained
access by faith into this grace in which we now
stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory
of God.” Romans 5:1-2
How many times
did I read these verses or hear them preached
before they really hit home to me on a personal
level? It wasn’t until I got tired of the
enemy smacking me down with shame that I began
to grab hold of what these verses are saying.
I realized I
didn’t have to take the enemies lip anymore…I
realized that Jesus Christ had bought the right
for me to stand proudly and shamelessly…even
when I stumbled, even when I sinned…once I
repented, I didn’t have to continue beating
myself up for the same crime over and over and
over again. The Lord had taken my penance
for me.
“But now
righteousness from God, apart from law, has been
made known, to which the Law and the Prophets
testify.22This righteousness from God
comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who
believe. There is no difference, 23for
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, 24and
are justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God
presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,
through faith in his blood. He did this to
demonstrate his justice, because in his
forbearance he had left the sins committed
beforehand unpunished- 26he
did it to demonstrate his justice at the present
time, so as to be just and the one who justifies
those who have faith in Jesus.” – Romans 3:21-26
Any time the enemy
comes at you when you’ve sinned…maybe you’ve
deeply hurt someone you love…many times after we
have repented, the devil will come and keep
trying to rub our nose in the same shame that we
have already been forgiven for.
The enemy is a
condemner and a liar…and that is why this verse
is so powerful…because we can stand on it and
refuse to put ourselves down any longer for our
crime. It has been forgiven…and we are
justified through the Lord Jesus Christ.
